Penelope (Penny, Peabody, Pi) and her foster Mom wants to add “Brave Girl”. Penny is a gorgeous tri-colored 7-year-old. The death of one of her people, illness of another and the total disruption of her routines brought on by the pandemic have left Penny pretty stressed and very timid. She is currently on 2 anti-anxiety medicines to help her on her journey back to the confident girl she once was.

Penny and her foster Mom are working hard rebuilding her confidence and she is making great strides each day. In just a few days she has gone from having to touch her adult in order to feel safe and not whine, to being able to explore the back yard on her own. Brave Girl. She still has separation anxiety so cannot be left alone just yet.

Penny likes napping on the couch (her safe place) and loves going on walks which sometimes are more like leisurely strolls. She is still getting used to her foster brother, Gus (another basset), not aggressive toward him, just timid. I don’t think she has been around cats before as she is very curious about the one here at the foster’s house. No chasing just watching. She has not been tested her around children yet.

She is not ready for adoption just yet but if you are looking for a loving companion that loves to snuggle on the couch and watch TV. Penny is your girl. I will post more updates later on her journey to her old self.

Please note: This application is forwarded to several Buckeye Basset Hound Rescue volunteers who respond in a coordinated effort. Your personal information will never be shared. If you are contacted and we do not receive a response within two (2) weeks then your application will not be considered.
